British Airways Announce Passenger Numbers Increase
Thursday 6th March 2008British Airways have announced that passenger figures are up for the second month of the year which is encouraging after the incident involving a British Airways Boeing 777 in January at Heathrow Airport.
The figures are encouraging with an apparent 5.3% rise in passengers choosing to fly with the carrier. However it was with premium cabin bookings that the real surprise came with a staggering 15% increase for February. It appears that standard seats are either remaining fairly static or only marginally increasing however it appears that more business travellers are chosing the flagship carrier. These increases could be slightly mis-leading however as 2008 does contain an extra day in February due to being a leap-year.
These figures will encourage the airline ahead of the opening of the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport which will eventually be the base for all British Airways flights operating from Heathrow. Desipte these excellent figures however British Airways still has the possibility of a pilots strike during the Easter period which will surely go some way to reversing this increase.
