American Airlines Move To Heathrow

Tuesday 26th February 2008

American Airlines have announced that they will be moving their entire airline from Dallas/Fort Worth to Heathrow Airport later this year.

It had been previously suggested that they would still operate from Gatwick to Dallas/Fort Worth however American spokesman Tim Smith said that a slot for the final remaining Gatwick flight made no sense and they have decided to move the entire operation to Heathrow Airport. The Gatwick flight will operate from the 13th of April this year.

An "open skies" treaty that has been formed between the European Union and the United States now allows an airline to fly between any U.S. city and any European city from March the 30th, which replaces individual treaties between the U.S. and individual countries.
