Man Charged With Posessing Gun On Blackpool Flight

A travelling businessman has been accused of carrying a gun and ammunition on board a flight from Spain to Blackpool. The man named as Karl Crookall, 40, of Fieldfare Close, Thornton is accused of posessing dangerous articles onboard an aircraft.

Crookall is believed to have carried an F92 self loading pistol as well as 49 rounds of 9mm blank cartridges to the aircraft in his hold baggage which was then checked in. The gun and ammunition were discovered in his suitcase in the aircraft hold when it landed at Blackpool Airport in September 2007 after arriving from Girona.

Mr. Crookall's lawyer has stated that "My client vehemently denies these allegations" however Mr. Crookall's application that the press should not use his name was refused. The case will be heard at Crown Court.
