BAA Accused Of 'Rigging' Delay Data At Its Airports

Tuesday 26th February 2008

The British Airports Authority (BAA) have been accused of manipulating their data in order to hide the true extent of airport delays at their UK airports.

According to documents that have been 'leaked' by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) BAA ammended customer survey data in order to hide delays and traffic problems. When asked BAA claim that they almost always reach their targets that are imposed by the CAA and claims that security waiting times are no longer than 10 minutes.

BAA have been in the media over poor performance recently after a baggage system problem meant considerable delay for thousands of passengers and ended up with many passengers unable to take any luggage other than hand baggage on flights from Terminal 4.

Heathrow Airport has claimed that the addition of a new runway and a further terminal building would solve many of its delay problems, however this is facing strong opposition from many areas such as the mayor of London Ken Livingstone.
