British Airways Pilots Step Back From Strike Action
Friday 22nd February 2008British Airways pilots stepped back from strike action on Thursday only 24 hours after voting overwhelmingly in favour of strike action.
A meeting between executives and union officials has meant that more discussion has been approved about the disputed areas such as benefits, pay and the Open Skies plan. This is a surprising turnaround as 24 hours before 86% of pilots had voted in favour of the action.
British Airways pilots had voiced their concerns about the Open Skies initiative as they felt that officials could use it to eventually lower their wages which are reported to be around £60,000 a year.
