Investigators Look At 777 Fuel Supply and Cold Conditions
Wednesday 20th February 2008Investigators looking at the reasons for the crash landing of the BA Boeing 777 earlier this year are looking at the cold conditions affecting the fuel supply as the possible cause of the crash.
The airliner apparently encountered very cold conditions on its flight from Beijing which investigators are focusing on as a possible cause of fuel problems. Whilst examining the fuel system they have reported that small pieces of debris were found in the fuel supply however this is unlikely to have contributed to the crash.
The temperatures that the aircraft encountered whilst travelling over the Ural Mountains and Scandinavia apparently dipping to a freezing 76 degrees celcius which is minus 105 degrees farenheit. Whilst this is not cold enought to freeze the fuel it may have contributed to a slight solidifying of the fuel meaning that the fuel supply was slowed down.
