Thousands Of Heathrow BA Passengers Forced To Fly Without Baggage
Wednesday 20th February 2008Thousands of British Airways passengers yesterday were forced to fly abroad without any of their luggage as the baggage system at Terminal 4 suffered a total breakdown. When the problem was announced there were angry responses from passengers as they were told they could either fly with no baggage or not fly at all.
The problem originated when a software update was loaded onto the baggage system computers. At first the new upate ran without problems however when requirements increased in the afternoon the system suffered a total crash. The previous software had to be re-loaded onto the system which required all baggage being removed. By this morning the problems have still not been overcome and Heathrow and British Airways are bracing themselves for even more issues.
British Airways are asking passengers to just bring hand luggage for their trip if at all possible, thave said that any luggage that passengers have not been able to take with them will be sent to their destination as soon as possible.
