Vulcan Bombers Return To The Skies Under Threat
Tuesday 19th February 2008The Vulcan bomber - one of the icons of British Aviation is under threat of not returning to the skies after a potential sponsor withdrew its support.
The Vulcan took to the skies again in October 2007 after it was withdrawn from service in 1992 with the RAF. Private enthusiasts and ex-RAF crew who worked on the bomber have spend many years restoring the aircraft to the condition it is now in ready for public airshow displays in 2008. The lottery has donated over £2 million to the cause with the rest being made up by public donations.
The £150,000 that is currently required is only a small fraction of the total that has been spent however worries now lie in the entire project being put on hold due to this shortfall in financing.
