Stansted Airport Visitor Centre To Be Built
Monday 11th February 2008Stansted Airport is delighted after permission was granted for the construction of a state of the art visitors centre. When the visitors centre is constructed it will contain a lecture theatre and many spaces for parking. It will also give parking for caches for day-trip visitors and schools.
The lectures will cover the workings of the airport and will assist people in the understanding of exactly what running an airport entails.
A community managed for BAA said the following after the announcement, "It’s fantastic news the visitors centre has been granted planning permission and we thank the council for giving it the thumbs up. Stansted Airport is an integral part of the community, and the centre will be an important place for local people and aviation enthusiasts to meet. Not only will it offer stunning views across the airfield but it will act as an education resource for displays and activities for visiting school trips and community groups. What could be better to help to improve knowledge and understanding of Stansted Airport and aviation in general.”
The centre will be built on the Northside of the airport and will be very close to the Stansted Airport Long Stay car park. There will also be a new access road constructed to provide a good link to the centre and plans are in place for a bus route that will link the centre with the main airport terminal building.
