Hard Rockers Take To The Skies

Friday 1st February 2008

It is a sight you do not always see at an airport. You are sitting in your aircraft ready for take-off and suddenly another aircraft taxis past, you catch a glimpse - there is a skeleton on the tail and 'Iron Maiden' painted down the side, are you dreaming? No this is true and better still the bands front man is the pilot!

Bruce Dickinson is the frontman of Iron Maiden however whilst in the cockpit is as cool and calm as any other commercial pilot. This flight is not for tourists however as the sole purpose of the bands own aircraft is to move all the people and equipment needed for one of their shows in one go.

However when Bruce lands the aircraft and goes through de-briefing he turns into the frontman he is and plays to hundreds of thousands of people. When asked about the two very different roles he has to fill he replied, "it's a bit like being Jeckyl and Hyde."
