BA Crash Pilot To Be Given As Much Time As Needed

Friday 18th January 2008

BA have told the hero airline pilot that managed to narrowly avoid a catastrophic crash at Heathrow Airport that he can have as much time off as he needs after the extremely stressful experience he has gone through.

Captain Peter Burkill has been described by BA as an experienced pilot who has been flying commercial airliners for nearly 20 years. Expert analysis and eyewitness accounts have all pointed to a heroic effort by Captain Burkill to avoid what could have been a far worse incident. However some experts have not ruled out pilot error as a cause which will not be clear until the investigations into the incident have been announced.

Investigators are currently analysing the aircrafts black box flight recorder to assist them in determining the causes of the crash that so far has not been explained. Some experts have indicated that both engines could have failed however this has never happened on a twin engined airliner as the odds of both engines failing at the same time are enormous. Other theories indicate that the engine(s) may have hit a flock of birds or the entire electronics could have failed on the aircraft causing the engines to stop. It has also not been ruled out that poor fuel management could have meant the aircraft simply ran out of fuel, however at this time all of this is pure speculation.

We are are hoping that soon that we will hear Captain Burkills account of what happened yesterday afternoon as piece by piece the mystery is uncovered.
