Monday 14th January 2008At age 19 most young men look into the skies and dream, dream of flying an aircraft themselves coming the closest sitting in an aircraft going on holiday. However for one young man from Stebbing near Stansted in Essex piloting an aircraft is a reality and not just a two-seat light-aircraft either.
Ed Gardner has been flying as a commercial pilot for the last three months with airline Titan Airways based at Stansted Airport. He shares cockpit duties with his father Bob, 55 who funded Ed's training and development as a pilot with the 19-year-old promising to pay him back.
Rob Giles, the 737 fleet manager for Titan Airways said that Ed was the youngest pilot he had heard of and appears to have a promising career ahead of him.
