Heathrow Deal Awarded To Balfour Beatty
Tuesday 8th January 2008
Balfour Beatty - the UK's largest construction group has been awarded the contract to construct a new pier at Heathrow airport in a 'toast rack' configuration worth an estimated £350million.
The new project to be known as the Midfield Pier will be able to accomodate 16 aircraft and utilise the space at the airport that is available. The Midfield Pier is due to be completed in 2012.
The Midfield Pier is part of the Heathrow East expansion project running at a total cost of £1.5billion. The new Terminal 5 is part of the project as well.
The new pier is due to be used by airlines such as Lufthansa, BMI and United Airlines and is sure to add to the desperately required expansion at the airport.
