Virgin Atlantic Staff told to resign

Monday 31st December 2007

Boss of Virgin Atlantic Sir Richard Branson has told staff planning to strike in January to resign.

Strikes are planned after union members decided to protest against pay they say is lower than comparable airlines.

In a letter to his staff Sir Richard is reported to have stated "For some of you, more pay than Virgin Atlantic can afford may be critical to your lifestyle and if that is the case you should consider working elsewhere."

Sir Richard also highlighted the fact that although the salary paid to staff may be lower in some cases, Virgin Atlantic offered more perks as it was a smaller and more friendly company.
