High speed ferry to sail from Dover

LD Lines has introduced the fastest high speed ferry to sail across the Channel.

The Incat 112 metre Wave-Piercing Catamaran will operate the Dover to Boulogne route, starting May 29.

The vessel has capacity for 1,200 passengers and crew and up to 417 small to medium sized vehicles.

Four daily services from Dover will run at 04:15, 07:45, 12:30 and 19:00 with return journeys from Boulogne departing at 07:00, 10:45, 17:00 and 22:30.

The fast ferry fares start from £24 one-way with short-break day returns from £28 for a car and four passengers.

This recent introduction is another major step for the French ferry company, who continue to look to attract a steady custom from their cross channel service.

LD Lines managing director Christophe Santoni said: "This is a very exciting, innovative step forward for LD Lines and with the introduction of this new high speed ferry, we will be dramatically revolutionising ferry transport across the channel, with a style of service never experienced before on the Dover Straits.

"We will be offering a unique, combined high speed and conventional ferry sailing frequency via the Boulogne service, providing great appeal and choice, to meet the demands of tourist and freight customers and create new markets."
