Bmibaby is creating a new service to run from East Midlands to Menorca next summer.

After dropping several European city routes from Birmingham, the low-cost carrier has opted to open the new service which will carry over 19,500 passengers to and from the Balaeric island.

Flights will run three days a week between May 22 and October 24 with prices starting from £41.99 for one way.

Bmibaby's managing director Crawford Rix said "Menorca is currently not served by any other low cost airline from East Midlands Airport, so by launching this new route we are offering customers a unique summer destination at fantastically low fares.

East Midlands Airport managing director Penny Coates said: “With 14 destinations from East Midlands Airport, Bmibaby are a crucial airline partner for us and their decision today is a demonstration of their continued confidence in our relationship.”
