Queens Medal For Brave Airport Worker
Tuesday 18th December 2007John Smeaton, 31 a baggage handler working at Glasgow Airport will be awarded The Queens Medal For Bravery after confronting and restraining the suspects of the burning jeep that crashed into the Glasgow Airport terminal building back in June.
Upon hearing of the award he was to receive Mr. Smeaton described it as 'an honour and a half' and said he 'couldn't believe it'.
Mr. Smeaton has already had much praise for his efforts. He was invited to Downing Street by Prime Minister Gordon Brown and has also had a website created in his honour.
