Low cost carrier easyjet have denied media claims that they are to be part of a bid for the purchase of Gatwick Airport.
The airline reacted to media reports that they may form a consortium with Richard Branson's Virgin Group for the operating and running of the London hub by denying that any deal had been done.
The reaction from easyjet seem to be in contrast to comments made by the Virgin group, in which they hinted that they were in talks with the low cost carrier over a purchase of the airport.
Owners BAA are reported to be hopeful of raising £2.5 billion from the sale however due to the current economic climate it is possible that the sum may be significantly less than expected.
