New Jobs At Inverness Airport
Tuesday 11th November 2008
Inverness has seen the creation of six new jobs after the airport's apron operation and safety team was expanded.
The new jobs that have been created will be for three apron operations and safety controllers as well as three assistants. They will be required to marshall aircraft on the airport aprons. The new positions are required due to the increase in traffic at the airport that has increased by 55% since the year 2000. Last year (2007) saw the airport handle 39,600 aircraft movements. This equates to approximately 108 every day.
Speaking about the new job positions was John Walton, airport manager who said;
"The need to create the new apron operations and safety team was identified through our regular reviews of tasks and resources. The team is now in place and working well to ensure that we get the best utilisation out of our aircraft parking while maintaining corporate safety standards.
Anne McKinlay, apron operations and safety manager, who added;
"I am pleased to say that we have a good team in place which is playing an important role in the airports busy daily operations. The six new members of staff are dealing with a wide variety of traffic, ranging from scheduled flights to executive jets and private light aircraft so its the case that no two days are the same in their jobs.
