New Year Airport Strikes Set To Go Ahead

Monday 17th December 2007

Travellers returning from holidays in the new year should brace themselves for long delays after staff at London Heathrow and several other UK airports voted in favour of strike action. It is also reported that Gatwick and Stansted are poised for strikes over the same period.

The ballot result is due to be released at the end of this week creating worry that the first flights of 2008 could be badly affected.

In theory walkouts could begin as early as the 27th or 28th of December however it is midely known that union bosses are unlikely to order a walkout before the new year mindful of the fact that public reaction will be strong.

It is still likely that a strike by Vigin Atlantic staff could be approaching due to a dispute over pensions bringing more potential misery for passengers in early 2008.
