Passengers travelling from London City Airport with German flag carrier Lufthansa will now be able to use mobile boarding passes.

When checking in online a passenger will be provided with an option to make use of an electronic boarding pass. This boarding pass can be sent to a mobile telephone by text message or by email. When arriving at the airport passengers can show airport staff the barcode on the screen of their mobile phone for example, when arriving at the boarding gate or security desk.

Commenting on the introduction of the mobile boarding pass system was the Chief Executive of London City Airport, Richard Gooding OBE who said;

"We welcome Lufthansa’s initiative. Using this technology makes the process of travelling through London City Airport even faster and creates a greener way to travel by eliminating the use of paper boarding cards”.
