First Phase Of Glasgow Airport Extension Opened
Friday 24th October 2008
The first phase of a Glasgow Airport terminal extension has opened to passengers recently as part of a £31 million project.
The new project will see a brand new ground floor UK arrivals hall as well as a JD Weathersoon bar and restaurant. You will also be able to find a Starbucks coffee shop with more outlets soon to be arriving.
The second phase of the project will see a brand new £12 million security search area. This will be replacing the three current areas that are responsible for security matters. You will also be able to fnd a new World Duty Free store as well as more seating. It is when passengers make it through security that more facilities will be available and there are bars, restaurants, shops and lounges all available.
The Managing Director of Glasgow Airport, Amanda McMillan commented on the project saying;
"Today is a significant milestone in the ongoing development of Glasgow Airport. This BAA investment underlines our commitment to deliver a better airport experience for our passengers, with state of the art security and more space to relax.
The new UK arrivals hall is a huge improvement on our existing facilities, and the addition of a new bar and restaurant, coffee shop and convenience store creates a much more relaxing environment for passengers, their friends and family.
The real transformation will come next week with the opening of our new state of the art security search area which will serve all departing passengers. This investment represents a step change in our approach to security and customer service. I am confident that passengers will welcome the new look Glasgow Airport and enjoy the improved facilities."
