Flybe Assist In The Rescue Of Blondie The Hedgehog
Friday 24th October 2008Yesterday saw a rare albino hedgehog named Blondie board a Flybe flight to Guernsey to start a new life free from threats to his life.
Blondie was originally discovered by a member of the public and seemed to be in distress. He was taken to the West Midlands Hedgehog Rescue Centre where he was treated and was soon back to full health. The concern was however that due to his colouring if he were released back into the UK wild he would not survive very long. As a result a new home was needed for him so he could be assured of being away from predators such as stoats, foxes and badgers. Guernsey seemed to fit the bill perfectly as it if free from all the predators that could endanger Blondies life.
After Blondie arrived in Guernsey he is to be allowed some time to relax in the care of experts after which he will be introduced to the local area and released into the wild where he will no doubt be happy and free from fear.
The Chief Commercial Officer of Flybe Mike Rutter commented on the unusual passenger and said;
“As the largest scheduled carrier serving Guernsey, we have been more than happy to step in and offer relief to this prickly passenger and we wish Blondie well in his new-found Island freedom.”
