Birmingham Airport Staff Take Part In Diabetes Walk
Monday 13th October 2008
The staff of Birmingham Airport including the directors have raised more than £1700 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
The money was raised after staff and directors took part in the annual West Midlands Walk to Cure Diabetes. It took place recently and was five miles in total length. Birmingham Airport were a bronze sponsor of the event and the acting Managing Director commented saying;
"As a company this is the fourth year that we have supported this very worthwhile charity. We were delighted to sponsor the JDRF in their research to find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. I am also pleased that members of our staff could take part on the day and help raise this commendable amount of sponsorship money."
Also commenting on the walk was Laura Turner from Birmingham Airport's Human Resources Team who added;
"This is the third year that I have taken part in the walk. I was happy to take part in the walk again to try and raise money for this charity that I have learnt so much about over the past three years and was pleased to be able to do my bit towards the fantastic £1700 that we raised. Although Sunday was a very wet day, luckily it did not put off the crowds of people that were there, even if we were very soggy at the end!
