Man Arrested Over False Threat Against Airliner In U.S.
Friday 14th December 2007A 42 year old man has been arrested in Florida over a false non-specific threat made to an airliner travelling from Atlanta to Florida.
The man named as Jerry James Williams was arrested charged with making a false information violation about an airliner.
The flight, a AirTran Airways Flight 856, was around 20 minutes outside of Atlanta when it is reported that Williams made the threat against the airliner the details of which are not available. Williams was heard to say his wife was on the aircraft as he made the threat however.
The aircraft - a Boeing 717 was contacted about the threat and made an emergency landing at the nearest available airport where it was searched as well as all passenger on board.
