Rescue Helicopter To Get New Home At Leeds Bradford Airport
Monday 11th August 2008Leeds Bradford Airport is to receive a rescue helicopter from Sheffield City Airport as rising costs meant that the airport could no longer afford to keep it on.
The helicopter run by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance shared costs with the South Yorkshire Police however this no longer occured and made their presence at Sheffield City Airport untennable. The correct infastructure is available for the helicopter at Leeds Bradford Airport and is very fortunate that the airport is able to take it to keep its valuable service operating.
The helicopter originated from donations received from people who has seen the Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond rescued by helicopter when he was involved in a serious accident whilst filming the programme on an airfield close to York.
