Ryanair To Possibly Purchase Stansted Airport
Friday 8th August 2008The chief executive of Ryanair Michael O'Leary has stated that his airline may be interested in the purchase of Stansted Airport.
Mr. O'Leary appears confident that the results of the UK Competition Commission will see BAA broken up and he believes that this would open up the option for them to make a bid for the airport. It is believed that the purchase price of the airport could be around £2 billion.
Mr. O'Leary has speculated on the improvements his airline would make to Stansted including increasing passenger numbers to 40 million from 25 million and building a secoind runway and terminal - he also mentioned halving landing fees.
