Two Aircraft Collide At Manchester Airport

Tuesday 5th August 2008

Manchester Airport has been the scene of a collison between two aircraft today in what has been described as minor by airport authorities.

According to a spokesman for Manchester Airport the two aircraft touched wings as they were taxiing onto the airport runway as they carried 287 passengers between them. There are no reports of injuries to any crew or passengers and there appear to be no delays.

The two aircraft involved were a Boeing 737-800 with 180 passengers onboard that was bound for Tenerife, whilst the other was an Airbus A320 operated by Lufthansa on a flight to Frankfurt with 107 passengers aboard. The aircraft are undergoing checks to establish any damage that has been caused before they will be permitted to fly again.
