Cargo Aircraft In East Midlands Bird Strike Emergency

Monday 4th August 2008

A cargo aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on Saturday at East Midlands Airport after it was involved in a suspected bird strike incident.

The aircraft - a Boeing 767 landed not long after take-off and fire and rescue services were called to the incident however the pilot was able to make an excellent landing leaving the aircraft undamaged. Bird strikes are an unfortunate side-effect of jet airline travel however rarely result in anything more dramatic than a small fire or jolt in the aircraft.

As a safety precaution aircraft involved in such an incident on take-off will land back at the airport to ensure any damage is checked and that the passengers are safe onboard.
