Fear of Flying booklet

We appreciate that many of you may have a fear of flying. A fear of flying is one of the most common concerns that people have when going abroad and we have addressed this in as many ways as we feel are possible. Our research for this booklet has been far reaching. We have taken information from many of the UK's top aviation companies and also spoken to individuals with their own fear of flying to find out what worries them and why. There are some very important facts when weighing up just how safe airline flights are. Are you aware of the following facts?

  • In total there were 8,109,000,000 enplanements (people getting on an aircraft) from 1982 to 200. In this whole period there were 2,301 fatalities which means that you have a 0.00003% chance of being killed in an air crash.
  • Turbulence is not dangerous and is just like a 'bumpy road' if you were travelling in a car. Turbulence is not dangerous and will not cause you to crash.
  • Lightning is not dangerous anymore on airliners. Modern technology has increased the ability of airliners to absorb lightning and it is expected that each airliner will be struck at least once a year. Lightning is expected to hit airliners and often does with no incident, how often do you hear of one crashing due to this?

These are just some of the points we have covered in this booklet plus many more. If you are scared of flying or are just interested in the procedures that take place on an aircraft then take a look at our booklet - there is so much to learn in it! We are confident that our fear of flying booklet with its useful diagrams and text is one of the most concise on the internet.

All our booklets are completely free for you to download - yes COMPLETELY FREE! You may download just one or all of them if you like. All of the booklets are in a useful PDF format meaning all you have to do is save them to your computer and then click print (if you need to print them). We have already formatted them to print on your printer so you will not have to adjust anything.

Please note however that they will default to printing on just one side of the paper so if you would like, for example, page 1 and 2 on the same sheet to fold over into the booklet size then you will have to configure your printer to do this. If your printer will only print on one side of the page then the booklet can still be used in booklet form you will just have print on a single side which is fine when you fold the pages over.

Why not take the booklet with you on the aircraft to read if you are feeling worried, all of this is of course free of charge and does not require any registering or purchasing of our products, just click on the link and download, no strings attached!

We ask you to please print responsibly and save paper if you need to print your booklet, try printing double sided to minimise waste. Compare Airport Parking is a carbon neutral company and encourages activities that save waste.
