Beamish Open Air Museum
Beamish Open Air Museum is a place where you can live history. Unlike many museums that consist of static exhibits this is very different, as the museum lives and works in the past, representing the early 1800's and 1900's.
Beamish Open Air Museum is located within 300 acres of countryside, and represents historic times that include a manor house and railway in 1825, and a town, farm, railway and colliery in 1913, as well as trams and transportation displays.
This is a living and breathing journey back into the past, and the nearest thing possible without inventing a time machine! For those of you with a historic interest, this is an essential visit.
